Mayer Hawthorne - How Do You Do
Mayer Hawthorne is a fantastically talented American singer/songwriter whose music completely revitalises motown with a contemporary twist. How Do You Do is the second CD album from this extraordinary artist after releasing his debut A Strange Arrangement in 2009. The album spans across many different soul genres from 80's love tunes like the opening track Get To Know You to pockets of R'n'B within tracks such as Can't Stop which does not sound dissimilar to something Kanye West may produce and features legendary hip hop artist Snoop Dogg. Hawthorne delivers his current lyrics through falsetto vocals over uplifting brass funky bass subtle electric guitar and melodic backing vocals. The single The Walk is no exception and perfectly introduces what this album has to offer a cool and collected soundtrack to everyday life. If you are a fan of artists such as Raphael Saadiq and Aloe Blacc then you are bound to fall in love with this album. (Justine Dench)
